Do you ever lie awake at night with a feeling of restlessness? You are so tired but cannot fall asleep. Your mind feels like it is racing a million miles an hour. Finally you fall asleep from mental and emotional exhaustion. In the morning when you wake up, the feelings and thoughts of uncertainty and fear of what may happen suddenly creep right back in. What is ailing you? Well, these things that have been occupying your mind is what I call the ever infamous, unresolved, uncertain circumstances. How do I know? Because I have experienced this many times and let me tell you it is not fun. I would like to share with you something that God showed me that has helped me in the area of resting in Jesus.
In life there will be moments that are difficult, wearisome or stressful. There are moments that can cause fear, doubt and confusion. The list can go on and on. The question is how do we deal with it? Jesus said in John 16:33, I have told you these things so that you will be whole and at peace. In this world, you will be plagued with times of trouble, but you need not fear; I have triumphed over this corrupt world order.
In the Amplified Bible it says this, I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]
Jesus’ words to us are very clear when you experience trouble and hardship you don’t need to be afraid because He has overcome the trouble that you are going through. Because Jesus died on the cross for you, you have access to His Presence at all times. That means everywhere you go He is with you. Whatever you need is provided for you in His Presence and because of His blood all you need is available to you in the moment you need it. You see when Jesus died on the cross for you He not only died for your sins but He also died so that you might live a victorious life.
In Revelation 12 it says, Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony,
Another version of this verse says, They won the victory over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the truth which they proclaimed;
In this scripture you see that the accuser of the brethren who is Satan accused us before God day and night and he has been cast down. Because of the blood of Jesus, Satan has been defeated and we have access to the tools that Jesus has given us to walk out our victory over the enemy. Revelation 12 says, they (meaning those who are in Christ Jesus which is us) overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony. What does it mean when it says the word of their (or our) testimony? It means that when we are speaking out in agreement with what God said it overcomes the enemy. If you are struggling with fear speak out the scripture, Perfect love casts out all fear. If you need provision, speak out the scripture, my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory because you are in Him. If it’s healing you need, speak out the scripture by His stripes you are healed.
Why is it so important to speak out what God says? Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. As you continue to speak God words over your life, you will begin to believe what He says about you. You will begin to know who you really are in Him. You are healed. You are free. You are righteous. You are more than a conqueror. You are His child. He will take care of your every need. He will perfect that which concerns you as you rest in Him.
T.D. Jakes says, You can change your condition when you understand your position. Once you understand who you are in Christ you can see your condition change around you. Take a look at this little clip:
When you start to forget who you are, it’s time to look in God’s Word and remind yourself of who He says you are. From the position of understanding who you are in Him, you will see your condition change. Ephesians 1 says, Because of the sacrifice of the Messiah, His blood poured out on the altar of the Cross, we’re a free people—free of penalties and punishments chalked up by all our misdeeds. And not just barely free, either. Abundantly free! He thought of everything, provided for everything we could possibly need, letting us in on the plans He took such delight in making. He set it all out before us in Christ, a long-range plan in which everything would be brought together and summed up in Him, everything in deepest heaven, everything on planet earth. It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, He had His eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose He is working out in everything and everyone. It’s in Christ that you, once you heard the truth and believed it (this Message of your salvation), found yourselves home free—signed, sealed, and delivered by the Holy Spirit. This signet from God is the first installment on what’s coming, a reminder that we’ll get everything God has planned for us, a praising and glorious life. I ask—ask the God of our Master, Jesus Christ, the God of glory—to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing Him personally, your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is He is calling you to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life He has for His followers, oh, the utter extravagance of His work in us who trust Him—endless energy, boundless strength! All this energy issues from Christ: God raised Him from death and set Him on a throne in deep heaven, in charge of running the universe, everything from galaxies to governments, no name and no power exempt from His rule. And not just for the time being, but forever. He is in charge of it all, has the final word on everything.
Ephesians 2:6-7 says, He raised us up with Him and seated us in the heavenly realms with our beloved Jesus the Anointed, the Liberating King. He did this for a reason: so that for all eternity we will stand as a living testimony to the incredible riches of His grace and kindness that He freely gives to us by uniting us with Jesus the Anointed.
Once we understand who we are in Christ and we declare what God says about us, then we are to rest in Him. In Exodus 14 it says, “Don’t be afraid! Stand still and you will see the Lord save you today….You only need to remain calm; the Lord will fight for you.”
As you give God all of the situations that you have been bothered with, you can rest assured that He will work every situation out for you. No matter what stay focused on who He says you are and you will see the situation turn around. He is faithful to do what He says He will and He will not go back on His word. I want to leave you with one last scripture it is found in Jude it says this, Relax, everything’s going to be all right; rest, everything’s coming together; open your hearts, love is on the way!
Rest In Jesus! Relax, Everything’s going to be all right!! You can trust Him to perfect that which concerns you!!
